There's a sort of transcript of the show up on the site. It's ... odd.
Weird! And interesting. Maybe (we can hope!) this is the beginning of the end for Publish America. Publicity never does them any good. And, if it's a lie, then it's one that will be particularly easy to expose as false. Either way, PA loses.
... and the vast majority will ignore the warnings and sign PA contracts.
IMO, this is good advertising for PA and will net them another group of wannabe published authors, who will open up their wallets to feed PA's vanity scam press coffers.
You know, I've been reading through the old NEPAT. People have been seeing the beginning of the end for PA since 2003 or 2004. It's now 2007. I don't mean to sound pessimistic but I don't think these guys will be going off business any time soon.

"“Well, she told me that it was projected, the first check in September was projected to be $3,000,000,” Sarah says.
“No, what I told her was, according to my contract, a million books sold was a $3,000,000 check,” Carrie explains.
Dr. Phil turns to Carrie’s would-be publisher, Batya, from PublishAmerica. He asks her, “How many $3,000,000 checks has PublishAmerica ever written to a new author two months after the book came out?”
“I think I can safely say none,” she says.
Dr. Phil tells Carrie, "This $3,000,000 pipe dream, I’m sorry, ain’t happening. Ain’t almost happening — I’m sorry — I don’t know who told you this — ” "
Okay--I did it. I went to the Dr. Phil site and sent them a mail concerning what PA is and why they are bad news.
I expressed a wish that Dr. Phil not be made to look a fool by offering free advertising to a piece of work like PA.
I listed about a dozen sites (including this one, P&E, the Washington Post) with reports about PA.
It would help if they got MORE such mails in.
Keep it simple, less is more, just tell them PA is bad and give them links to justify your assertions.
If you are a PA victim, tell your story.

Use your real name & address, pro pub credits if any. Truth is the best weapon against PA.
I always liked Dr. Phil, but hubby does not. =) This is an interesting turn of events in any case.
(Btw- my posts here at AW were yet again thrown up in my face. Uh..I am wondering why?)
And that is what makes all of this so sad at times. But as it has been been said by others, as long as there are writers that have the golden word syndrome or are tired of being rejected by everyone else, PA will still be around. All we can do here is put the word out on them and hope we can steer as many clear from them as we can.
