For me blocks usually happen when something's particularly difficult for whatever reason. Usually my first reaction is to run screaming, procrastinate, avoid, work on something else, etc., but I usually don't feel any better at all, no matter what I do, until I've dealt with said block.
What sometimes works for me is giving myself the permission to go extremely slowly, as long as I'm moving in the right direction (towards, not away from, whatever that difficult thing may be) and when this works, once I start moving really slowly yet in that "right" direction, I usually pick up speed to a normal clip and I'm back on track.
Hope this helps someone! : )
