A few of you have recently read my 1st thread, about being from PA. In the start of my writing, I was all bubbly inside, about being accepted as a new author. But, now I feel sick to my stomach, with the worst feeling in the world about my book that was put out. Granted it may not have been top notch. But, I have every reason to think, that if a LEGIT publisher would have gotten a hold of it, it could have been wonderful.

But, this is the other side now. I see that people here aren't bashing agents and what they CAN'T do for you. But, what they WILL do for you.

People here want others to read their books, not just pass it around to author to author, family, and friends. But, people who have no direct link to us what so ever, read our books.

I want to SEE my book on a bookshelf, not just browsing around the internet. I want someone to help me become what I know I can be, an author.

Thanks again cooler!

Being called "bashers" is akin to PA stating they are not in any way a vanity press. Both are lies.

Again, welcome to the cooler. The information, advice, and genuine support you will find here is incredible. And a wee bit addictive... :D

PA implies, they will get your book into a bookstore with no questions asked. That's why I'm here. They didn't live up to their end of the deal.

It's a matter of semantics with PA. They do get your book in bookstores with no questions asked. If a book gets on a bookstore shelf, it is the author who gets it done, and PA sure doesn't ask any questions or provide any help.

The book is always available for purchase THROUGH most national chain bookstores, for home delivery, not from OFF bookstore shelves.

No, they sure don't! That's why I have called it quits with them and my books aren't even in my hands yet. (Mind You, my book was released in August and they can't even work the postal service right.) I have sent out 8 query letter's for my new children's book, with no strings attached to PA. So, maybe I will get lucky and snag one!

You rock, Victory! Way to walk in with both eyes open! You're certain to find plenty of help, plenty of pals, and plenty of laughs at AW. It's can be a tough bunch, but a fair one. And they're -- we're -- all after the same thing: working to give you the tools to help make you the best possible writer you can be, and then get that writing published with a legitimate publisher.

Welcome aboard!

:) Exactly how I felt when I came here from PA after the honeymoon period came to an end and the royalty check arrived. Now several members have helped to crit some of my work and improve the way I write. I have learned how to present a munuscript properly and how to write an effective query letter - -all through membership here. This place has helped me to keep writing and to believe in myself. I continue to work on my writing and submit to publishers. I hope that you will find similar encouragement and practical help here also.:)
