I haven't done a lot of writing, barely any at all, in the last couple of months. It's no secret and I've been going through bouts of irratibility, contentment and ignorance.

But lately blogging has come back to me. I'm blogging from work, via email, and it's bringing it back. So now blogging seems like a crutch I should rely on to get me moving back to 'real' writing.

Do any of you remember Tastes of the Darkness? It was a horror flash fiction blog carnival I ran. It had a few issues, produced some interesting fiction but sadly lost momentum and I can't seem to get it going again.

I think one of the main pitfalls of the carnival was it was focused on only one genre, and during my pondering over not writing, I've come to my own conclusion about leaving my identity as a genre writer and to just write fiction.

So, I was looking for a show of hands that would be interested in a flash fiction blog carnival. Basically, we all write a piece of flash fiction on our blogs and the host, another blog, shall publish a collection of links to these pieces as a way of publicizing our blogs and exercizing our writing muscles.

I personally would LOVE to have someone give me a prompt. I've been so focused on my WIP lately that I could use a kick in the pants to get something started. I will happily do whatever the majority decides, however, because I like this idea muchly.

Awesome Virginia; it's so great to have enthusiastic people. I really need you guys to keep it up and give me the kick up the ass I need.

I think a theme would be good so it gives our stories some connection to each other rather than just a random collection of flash fiction.

So, I'm up for theme suggestions as well. I'd suggest one myself but everything in my head at the moment is politics and that'll scare off some people.

Thanks for the kick up the bum.

I can set up the invite post on my blog tomorrow at work, and then set a deadline, say two weeks. In the meantime, people should suggest themes.

What are the rules? I've got a chapter from my book that could be quickly worked into a piece of flash fiction. And since it involves an unexpected kiss, like Bill's piece, perhaps we've got our theme!

The rules are to post a piece of less than a thousand words onto your blog on the theme: which is beginnings according to my invite post.

Feel free to work a scene from your novel into a piece, but maybe you'd want to write something new and not waste your novel on the web.

Most of the novel is already on the web, so it's no big deal. But it's not a beginnings theme, so I'll have to think of something else. I'm in more of an editing mindset right now than a creative one, so we'll see if I can come up with something for this.

I am very excited about this and finally my account activation was completed (Thank you Mac! I hate AOHell...) so I can respond! I would love to participate, but I'm curious: are multiple entries allowed? ;-)
