A couple of items for business -- I agree that the description needs to be touched up, regardless of the name, to emphasize that the culture is one of critiques.

I've no interest whatsoever in providing space for an ego-boo "post it and people will only say nice things" forum. For one thing, I don't really think it's good for writers supposedly working on their craft, secondly it seems to encourage a sort of circle-jerk mentality that would be deadly to a vibrant culture of beta-reading and crit, even in a different room. Poetry is, by its nature, a bit different than prose in that regard--hence the difference in having a post-without-comment poetry space.

I've left "Share Your Work" as a vote-able option, if you hate the idea of a name change. :)

Okay, folks -- the poll is open for three days! Vote early, vote often!

I kind of like Proser or Poser?

Post and Puke

Seriously,

I like the play on words in Critical Mass, except I'd feel like I was sitting in a church pew. Show, don't tell. That'll be Stations of the Cross for you...

Same Psychosis...different day.
"What Your Mother Won't Tell You"

Although, when I ask for crits I usually request:
"Beat me, Whip me, make me re-write for kicks!"

"Beat the Crap out of My Fragile Ego" is real good too. Real good.

I voted for Peer Critique and Feedback, but I like just Critique and Feedback better.

And a write-in vote for Work In Progress. I know, I know, no write-ins.

After you change this, would you change the Grammar forum name too?

;-) You didn't think we'd make it easy, did you?

Behind you!
I voted for Absolute Workshop because a couple zillion times a week I suggest that someone who only wants rainbows blown up their behind try posting their writing at AbsoluteWrite, where real writers will tell you the truth about its quality and marketability.

It sounds dopey, but keeping the word Absolute as "product branding" makes real good sense to me--more sense than naming it something clever, which would mainly please those who are already here and know full well what you can get out of SYW, including your hat handed to you and a shove toward the door.

It's been a while since I've been over at Share Your Work, but I like Peer Critique and Feedback the best of all the options. The title gives all the necessary information and does it in a concise manner.

I still want Post, Toast, & Roast--but if I can't be poetic I'll be boring and go with Peer Critique and Feedback.

I voted for What Your Mom Won't Tell You. If everyone gravitates toward a more serious title, it'd still be fun to have as a subtitle.

Nil points for "My Two Cents"! Gosh, how embarrassed must the person who suggested that be.

Couldn't decide between "Peer Critique and Feedback" and "Absolute Workshop", so voted for them both!

It's okay now, the person who suggested it has now found this thread and voted for it.:)

None of my suggestions showed up (quick, where's a thread I can pout in?). I voted for Peer Critique and Feedback, but later I saw someone post a good argument for Absolute Workshop.
Why not something like "So You Still Don't Think You Suck?" :tongue
I already suggested something like that. One of mine was "My writing doesn't suck, does it?" and that of course didn't make the cut.

I voted for the Absolute workshop as well, for much the same reason.
