What happened to attachments/uploads? / Inserting an image into your post

If the photos are linked to a URL (such as at PhotoBucket), you can just use the Insert Image tool to put the link in your post.

You can also still add an image to your signature by going to User CP > Edit Signature.

You can upload a pic into your profile (right now yours is the same as your avatar).

As I look down at the Additional Options beneath the message editor window as I reply to your message, I can see an Attach Files option (Valid file extensions: bmp gif jpe jpeg jpg png txt) and a Manage Attachments button. But methinks attaching (uploading) a file puts extra load on the AW server.

These days most folks have a Photobucket.com or Tinyurl.com or similar account and upload pics there. You only have to copy/paste the http URL between tags to display a pic in your message. This method doesn't put extra load on the AW server.

e.g. do this,



...I've added extra spaces so you can see the IMG and /IMG tags. When the spaces are removed, the board will action the tags and your pic should display:



...Dammit, beaten to the punch by alleycat, again.

Yep; image and other attachments take up bandwidth, space on the server and are a very scary security risk.

Does anyone know if Picasa Web Albums works for this? I'm getting tired of making new accounts... and thought I might look into using something attached to the google account I have. Does anyone here use Picasa? And have you linked a pic to AW?

Hm. In case anyone was wondering, so far it does NOT look like Google's Picasa Web Album works here.

Yeah, Picasa works. So does Flickr and Photobucket.

All right-- then huccome my pix ain't working... I tried it, but something's off.
Trying again... (or maybe something's wrong that I just can't SEE the pictures?

Apparently the Picasa links come cluttered with stuff that wrecks them for forum posting unless you trim them a bit. I don't use Picasa, so I did a little research at the prodding of my suicidal inner cat.
