I keep forgetting to come back here and SIGN UP!

Prompt: pick a song, and write the story behind the song. The catch is: it can't be a story we already know. (so, a song with no obvious story attached, or the obvious story has it wrong.)

Anywhere on the SFF spectrum, or close to it. Cleverness and Things Are Not What They Seem (Scott Lynch, Neil Gaiman) are always fun.

Re gore, sex, swearing - dialed down or none, pretty please.

Sup party people!

SIGN ME UP, please!

Prompt: I prefer fantasy with strong, witty protags (moar badassery!), tropes with a twist (cannibal elves, anyone?), maybe a little romanticalness (any combination of sexes, but keep it a couple) and since it's a present, how about a happy ending. Special request - include one or several WTF moments - sneak in a joke or pun, crazy plot twist, etc.

Things I no like: scat/golden showers, whining, bestiality.

I like anything fantasy or light sci-fi. Please no heavy tech/gadget descriptions. Humor preferred, romance fine, any supernatural creatures welcome, No worries with language or violence except no child violence.

If you feel like a challenge my favorite things in RL are dolphins, quilting, music and absolutely anything purple see if you can work any or all of those things somewhere into the story.

SIGN ME UP!

Prompt: I would like a classic road trip story, but with spaceships.

Anything goes as far as I'm concerned, you can make it as tame or as extreme as you want.

This is gonna be fun!

Slackards still have 7 days to weigh in on this deal. If you know any slackards, whup 'em up side the head with a sheaf of 92 bright copy paper and tell 'em to get their butts in gear.

*been thinking about my prompt way too long*

Sign me up!!

Prompt: Flight

Bonus sub-prompt: What's in the box?

Yes: I love fantasy first, but I have been known to enjoy soft sci-fi on occasion. If you're going to go dark, I prefer bittersweet to tragic. Not going to get any more specific than that, because I would like to keep the writer's playing field wide open. Peter S. Beagle, Neil Gaiman and Ray Bradbury give me squees.

No, Just No: Excessive Gore/Violence, erotica, flat love interests

SIGN ME UP!

I have a knack for classical detectives archetypes (Sherlock Holmes, Sam Spade, Miss Marble, etc.) using their classical monologues in unusual situations and settings like Steampunk era, outer space, high fantasy realm, etc.

Just nothing over 4,000 words and no Lovecraftian, please. That has been done to death.

Someone in this thread has listened and done her duty--consider this slackard whupped. Ow.

SIGNUP!

Okay, I'm in the mood for a fairy tale.* It can either be a retelling or one of your own, but the darker the fantasy, the better. If you do retell, try to use something more obscure like "Fitcher's Bird" or folklore like "Baba Yaga." Bonus points if your story's set in a different culture or secondary world.

I want subversion, I want diverse characters with actual agency. None of this "damsel in distress" crap. I'm fine with language and gore and sex, but please don't be gratuitous.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

*Plz to not have actual fairies though, kthx.

Wellll... I might be okay with fairies/fae/faeries so long as they aren't the cute and cuddly kind. Like, if we're talking a fairy godmother, she'd better not be all lollipops and sunshine and glitter. :D

Given who's asking, they might turn out to be robotic or alien instead.

heh. I get a faerie assignment and you can be damn sure they won't be any cute little diaphanous damsel fly-like cuties with tutus on spewing sparkles.

Well, they might be diaphanous--hard to see--and they might spew sparkles--deadly ones. But they definitely will not be cute.

Except maybe to their mothers. You know how mothers are.

I saw this last year but didn't try it, but this year I'd like to put my skills (and my new Dragon software) to the test!

SIGN ME UP!!

Things I like: Tropical Venice, cities with canals and boats, houseboats, boat markets, FOOD, especially desert! I can't eat sugar or chocolate so I obsess over food a lot. I like ghosts, secondary world fantasy, mythical and made-up beasties, magic, and cool characters. Male or female is fine. Kicking butt not necessary but not discouraged either. Romance is a hard sell for me. I like Jane Austin... Gore, swearing etc. all good. I hope this is an ok list... OH! And I do like vampires :)

Things I don't like: Not into erotica so much but i do love fetish fashion! So if you can work in a guy in a corset that would be awesome.

I like anime and manga, Hayao Miyazaki, Hellsing, Sugar Sugar Rune, anything cool and cute! Authors- China Mieville (aka GOD), Chuck Pahlanuik, Peter Watts, Garth Nix, Jacqueline Carey, Kim Newman

So it's currently Friday. I'm closing signups whenever I get to a computer on Monday morning. Meaning if you're going to sign up, this weekend is your LAST CHANCE.

Huh. Just saw this now. Okay, I'm game: SIGNUP

I'd like something involving lost Vikings. SF is good, F is almost as good. I'm not really that picky.

I'm not a fan of graphic sex, sexual violence, or bad things happening to children. Otherwise, go wild.
