Book still selling.

AS I have been doing for a long time now, I watch the to see how many books are being sold on Amazon's site. Check my last report on here and compare and you can see why. Consider the fact that the number of NEW books also moves UP and down. I have proof and have been collecting this for a long time now.

Consider that I have not had a contract for one year and have not been paid. I am also keeping other records. This is just a sample.

I know PA reads this board and my suggestion for you at this point is to use some of the money you made on my book to buy some life boats, your ship is going to sink faster than you think.

Oh, did I tell you about my new friend I met a few weeks ago? I won't tell you much about him but I will mention that he and his wife moved here afer he retired and he was a high ranking official in a federal office. No name but the initials are IRS. He still has connections and clout.

BTW, he was one of the ones who bought a book.

There were only 6 available at the time of the contract cancellation. A couple of weeks ago there were 19 available.

Since the wrong set of proofs was sent to the printer, only 51 were sold from the new proofs. I bought them. The only books in the first 6 months that I received a royalty check should have Molly Marks Brent on them.

All used ones should have the name as Molly Marks Brent. PA says no new ones were printed and sold from the corrected proofs. OH REALLY?

This is one of probably thousands of cases. If they cheat me, I take it personally. It they cheat thousands, the IRS takes it over.

Hey Dolan, do you recall that old country song by George Jones that says "IF YOU'RE CAUGHT CHEATING TWICE, IT'S TWENTY TO LIFE".

On the contrary, what this place needs is negative comments. Imagine if people were allowed to speak freely of their experience here, as opposed to allowing this festering nightmare of shell-shocked first-time authors caught in the headlights with their white puffy tails imbedded in the grill of the PA Hummer barrelling down the highway to just continue on and on.

Yes, that would mean they'd have been blinded by looking out their behinds.

Yay Zaz.

From the PA board:

Shemp: PA is the best move available to a new author trying to break into the industry. What the individual does with that is up to them. If they want to fail, they better be willing to point the finger at themselves.

ZaZ: That's like breaking into the fast food hamburger industry with a beat up Hibachi and no lighter fluid.

A UK author emailed me about this and he told me it is a lie, that they have no office headquartered there. He checked it out personally and there is no Publish Britannica office anywhere in England.

That's really interesting, because just yesterday I got curious about PB and checked out the site. All the ordering information and phone numbers were US based, and all book prices were in US dollars. (If they have the prices in pounds anywhere, I didn't find it.) Seemed ... odd.

ETA: Oh man, go Zaz! Good thing I'm almost alone in the office today, because I'm howling over here.

Aside from that, and aside from the ISBN prefix belonging to a US publisher, PublishBritannica lists a number of titles on their web site. If you take those titles over to Amazon.co.uk and search on 'em, you'll find that they're listed there as being published by PublishAmerica.

(And Molly -- as long as we're talking Uncle Sam, I do wonder what the tax status of PublishIcelandica and PublishBritannica might be, and whether Willem has claimed any deductions for business travel based on them.)

thread not deleted, but posts were.

Zaz's posts are gone from PAMB 11:20 EST.

Zaz has become an "unperson."

Probably banned, too, sigh.

Nice going, Z!

*Sniff* I'll miss you PAMB

They're removing anything I say and leaving Shemp's propaganda.
Banned at 10:30 CST. My first post was around 9:37.
At least I had Shemp as rodeo clown.
Thanks for playing along, kids.

Back after a couple of days away, and as usual trying to get caught up with this vast and cumbersome thread.

I see it's time for a re-statement of some oft-posted, and evidently oft-ignored, requests:

- Please, don't post images (other than your avatar and whatever's in your sig line). There are people here with dial-up service and slower computers, and images make it very hard for them to view this thread.

- Don't post your writing here. There's a critique forum for that.

- I acknowledge the continued fascination with Shemp, a.k.a. HB Marcus. But please don't discuss him here. There's a thread devoted entirely to him. (how that must thrill him). Please use it.

- Try to avoid one-line posts saying "I see" or "I agree" or "Hi!" This thread is long enough.

- Please snip your quotes. If you're commenting on someone's wonderful post, it's only necessary to quote the first couple of lines. If you're responding to a specific point, quote just that point and snip the rest. Again, this thread is long enough!

Thanks, everyone.

- Victoria

Bonnie, they also took down...

...Jean Marie's response to HB's question about the Writer's Guild. All she did was tell the truth. Simply amazing, Josef Goebbels would be proud...

I thought that it was because the Writer's Guild wouldn't recognize PA as a publisher, and not that they wouldn't recognize PA writers "authors". I don't think the WG has anything against Joe PA Writer...

Because PA isn't recognised as a commercial publisher (because it uses the vanity press business model) those same guilds can't recognise Publish America authors as published authors.

Maybe someone in the UK and Iceland needs to contact their tax departments or that of the EU to make certain they're not being cheated out of taxes by PA's dodgy maneuvers of claiming to be a publisher in their country only to use the US ISBN on their books.

Just a quick note...

...because I know there will be some who will be very interested in this (Jennaaaaaaaaaaaa.....), but Jean Marie has signed up with AW. YES! She also wanted me to be sure to let everyone know that she will be using her real name when she posts here.

Talk about a gutsy, classy lady - this woman is an excellent writer who possesses a lot of inner strength, she will be a major asset to our boards.

Aw man, I missed it. Zaz, you are the man. Patti, when you get here, take brownie and have a seat. Put your feet up, take a load off.
Jean Marie - I am SO GLAD you're here, girl! I've been waiting for you to make the jump. Same goes for you - have a brownie. Maybe Ed'll cook up some hamdogs later. Hey, summer is coming, BBQ time. :) Post away, dear lady.

Pathetic attemp at repression

Remember the story about the dam that was overflowing and the little boy had his finger stuck in a hole trying to stop the flood by plugging one small little hole while the rest of the water rushed out in torrents around him ??

This is the same phenomenom we see occuring over at the PAMB. The dam has broken and the authors are fleeing. Soon it will just be HB and a sparse number of newbies. As I stated earlier, their desperate attempt to reign in the dissension was doomed to failure. one cannot Hitch a wagon to a Jackass and expect it to pull it's own weight let alone the weight of said carridge. SHEMP, the "Mule" in question is not up to this task. Hi scredibility as a writer and marketiing expert is null.

"SHEMP, YOU HAVE BEEN MEASURED AND FOUND TO BE UNWORTHY!!"

PA blundered and blundered big. They COULD have had the intelligent, well spoken and respected Lynn, instead they got Shemp.. AND they willingly made the choice. WHY? Lynn would not have stooped to the levels of deception and dishonesty that Shemp has. PA needed someone as low down and ethically bereft as they were. Lynn is a woman of principals, she would have seen the light and exposed the scam. SHEMP is all about the scam and himself. IT it fed his ego he was for it everything else be damned.

I will watch with great joy as more and more PA writers see the light and flee form that house of horrors!!

Zaz!! You totally ROCK!! I only wish I could have joined in on the fun.

The Flapper and Omelet-Kat are proud of you.

The newbies know what's going on and can figure it out. The massive deletion of any contradictory post speaks volumes. We need to keep reapplying to PA for posting rights and keep challenging SHEMP and PA. The more they ban the dissension, the more obvious their censorship becomes and we'll gain more converts in the process. I was banned but will be back. Zaz has set a great example. Let's expose them for what they really are on their own forum. We'll have those moderators getting finger cramps and have Shemp terrified to post a single word for fear that he'll be jumped upon and exposed for the fraud that he is by a lurking "Truth Shark".
