Cheering you all on!
The one point that made the entire episode worthwhile: The look on Sylar's face right before he shot Maya.

I mean, I'm not a big Sylar fan, but he gained a lot more points there.

I don't get why Maya didn't just kill Sylar with her power sometime. I mean, she knows how to reverse it, doesn't she? I bet she could focus it if she weren't so busy being surprised by everything all the time.

And is anyone else finding Peter kind of annoying now? He's just...I don't know. I'm over him.

I really, really like Elle, though. But I think she needs to pump up her power. I mean, she was kind of amazing when she first came in. Now she's cooled down.

Glued to my computer screen.
Peter has been annoying lately. It reminds me of "Oh, poor me. Help. I've fallen and I can't get up." I really hope next season they'll fix that.

Hiro and Peter were my favorites last season, but now it's Hiro, Claire, and Elle. Noah and West are cool too.

Drat, why did Morhinder have help Maya? ;) I think they could've thought of something more interesting for her from the start. ^^

Yeah, when you're cool power is the ability to kill, there isn't much story line for you. Bye bye Nicki. Maya's story for next half could be learning the restraint to focus on one person. That would be nifty. Could a Maya kill undo Adam?

And Adam is stuck, immortal, able to die if his head is removed; but, can he starve to death? I'm guessing we'll see more of him. And perhaps Sylar and Adam together? Don't know if their egos could handle it, having a partner.

The story is just going to get more complicated. Now Peter and Matt have vendettas (probably against HRG, right?). The company is back in control. The cheerleader is getting all teenager angsty.

I have to agree with many of you--Hiro is my favorite character. I was worried they were going to do him off. (Like Edward on 24--who saw that coming?) I think he completely embodies what a "hero" should be: motivated to do good, even if it's hard, guilty, torn between right and wrong, truth and half-truth, and (most of all) completely dedicated to his new role.

Too long, I'm sorry. ;)

Nathan isn't dead, folks. He's got Kensai's blood.

Two died, one was resurrected. There's your two. Nathan's gonna be just fine.

Oh Lord. I hope not. I hope Nathan's gone, baby, gone. Because if he's not, then short of decapitation, there's absolutely no risk anymore. And as much as I miss HIGHLANDER, if Hiro starts spouting "There can be only one -- yatta!" I'm outta here.

Can anyone tell me what happened at the very end of the finale? My DVR cut off right as Sylar injected himself with the cure. :(

He injected himself and got his powers back. They ended with him grabbing a can telekinetically.

I know lots of folks saw things differently, but in my opinion... OMFG! Let's recap some character interaction:

When maya finds out that Sylar killed her brother she does try to kill him but he shots her instead, and then says, "Now look what you made me do." That was a prime moment for me. Instead of her power welling, the others writhing in agony, he just caps her. Nicely down.

Hiro leaving Kensai in a coffin shows some serious (grim) growth for the young hero. He wanted to kill him. That would have been swift and merciful but instead left him to rot for an eternity. That's damned twisted.

Nathan's death sucked for me. I liked his character due to his moral ambiguity, but now he's become a wake up call for Peter. Everyone wishing that Pete would stop being so danmed wishy-washy got their prayers answered. I think we'll be seeing a Peter from "Five Years Gone".

And now with HRG forced to play Company Man he'll be more ruthless and desperate to protect his family. Wasn't he the one that shot Nathan?

This writer's strike better come to a close soon because I don't think I can wait until Sept. of next year for more Heroes.

While some of last night's scenes were excellently choreographed -- the climactic scene when we don't know if Peter's going to turn on Adam or not, specifically -- what was missing for me was the palpable tension that thrummed through all of season one.

Yes! He totally put her down. Like no questions asked! And she so does need to stop being so shocked by everything and learn to focus! She's just so scattered. Like if she could channel that rage and stop being such a victim all the time then she could be deadly.

Hiro leaving Kensai in a coffin shows some serious (grim) growth for the young hero. He wanted to kill him. That would have been swift and merciful but instead left him to rot for an eternity. That's damned twisted.

It really was. I didn't know what he was going to do. I wasn't expecting that though.

Nathan's death sucked for me. I liked his character due to his moral ambiguity, but now he's become a wake up call for Peter. Everyone wishing that Pete would stop being so danmed wishy-washy got their prayers answered. I think we'll be seeing a Peter from "Five Years Gone".

I am upset about Nathan dying. I adored him. Perhaps he'll be coming back. Even with a head shot you can get up from that if you have Claire's blood. . . and they remove the bullet from your brain.

And Peter was pissing me off this whole time! Dude! You read minds! Adam shouldn't have been able to pull that one on you!

And now with HRG forced to play Company Man he'll be more ruthless and desperate to protect his family. Wasn't he the one that shot Nathan?

Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. I know that I love him! He's a beast and I"m happy to see that we'll be getting more of his crazy beastness! Although now I hate Mohinder becuase I would have beat Sylar's ass. Also I would have taken his ass right to the company. Like you wanna live? These are the guys with the blood. Threaten me all you want, they're coming in with a task force.

Also, they left Molly with a sitter for like, days?

This writer's strike better come to a close soon because I don't think I can wait until Sept. of next year for more Heroes.

It did seem like they kind of just forced everything to fall together this season and things were rushed and not taken as far as they could have been. Hopefully they're back on track soon.

Perfect. No hesitation, just turns and shoots. That was the best moment of the episode for me.

You're SO right about this. I said the same thing to my friend. Everytime something happened before she'd say "ALEJANDRO!" then it became "GABRIEL!" It's like, get over it. Stuff's happening, just do what you have to do, Maya.

I'm happy they didn't kill her off though...I think Dania Ramirez is a good actress and they should utilise her some more.

I figure that was the writing team scrambling to finish out the season due to the damned strike! It did crash together too quickly. The bits with Monica never panned out but instead felt like tidbits from an old serial. And losing Nikki didn't make me happy. I loved her tortured character. I'm at a loss. Funny, this reminds me of Babylon 5, when they thought the show was over before the end of the season so they wrapped up their story line early. Then they got the green light to finish the season and had to come up with something. It wasn't all that fun tio watch.

I'm going to miss Nathan. I've always liked Adrian as an actor. He brings so much to the screen that there's going to be a vacuum with him gone. The scenes with him and Matt felt so good and natural; Adrian and Greg made their characters feel real. Now we'll have to wait ages to see what else is in store.

And I would have beat Sylar, too! Say Duchess, next time I'll hold him down and you can give him a few whacks.

Good lord. Now that it's over, I just felt this whole volume was a giant waste of time, unfortunately. And I don't think the writer's strike can be blamed, they were off track from the beginning. They could have had a really nice twist with Adam (plus David Anders is just cool), but they squandered that too.

Disappointed they killed Nathan, more disappointed they didn't use the death on someone like Maya. I like Ali Larter, but never cared for her character -- and now that she's gone, hopefully they'll use it as an excuse to dump the New Orleans storyline completely.

Not sure if I'll be back for a third season. How many episodes was this, anyway?

Because we predicted Kensei being the killer a month before he was revealed as Adam, my roomie and I were less than excited by that twist. When Hiro revealed that Adam had killed his dad, was it supposed to be a surprise to us that it was him? But my roomie thought for one second that maybe they'd throw a real twist in and we'd find out that it was Peter, having been manipulated by Adam somehow. That would have been much cooler (though sadder 'cuz I like Peter).

After reading some blogs from Greg Beeman and Tim Kring I don't feel as cheated. They were trying something a little different and after our fussing and their realization that it wasn't working, started to make changes. That cuased some problems with the writing only to be compounded by the strike. When they return for the next arc/ season, we should see a return to the first season, full of intrigue and less whiny, angst-ridden, foot dragging, dumb ass character stuff.

Now I have to go and read Jax's blog.

Okay... ouch!

Jax, you've got some serious points. All of which would sum up if the writers wrote their characters with more then half of a brain.

I didn't even think about why Peter didn't phase them through the safe, other then he used that power before DL died but now that he's gone Peter couldn't tap into that power? I don't know the parameters of his gift but that could be the reason.

Personally, I loved Nikki. She's the Jeckyl and Hyde, the Dr. Banner and Incredible Hulk - one normal, loving person who can't stop a whirlwind of bloody violence. I think it was the poker game where she mutilated a room full of guys with guns that sent some serious shivers down my spine. Nikki is probably gone (but wheres the body) so we'll see.

I still have hopes that with Hiro dumping Kensai and Peter losing Nathan that they'll go on the offensive and start kicking some ass. We saw them as a team last season as their future selves took on an army of Company goons so this will be a warm welcome.

Nice blog. I feel you mirror our hopes for a return to Heroes!

I figured that twist, too. Also that Adam was Kensei all along. I thought they could have utilized the story better, though, with Hiro and Adam, especially since we spent so long on Japan setting it up. I sort of forgave them for loitering there since they could use it to set up a really dynamic present-day storyline but that fell to pieces too. I'll take a peek into volume three if David Anders returns.

According to the Ask Ausiello column over on TVGuide.com....

SPOILERS for Next Season:

Concerning the deaths of Nikki and Nathan, one is not dead. Just don't know which one, but I like Joe270's comment. Nathan has Adam's blood in him now, so my money's on him returning.

;)
