Three years ago I completely revised and partially rewrote a guidebook for my (smallish) travel company. It still has the owner's name on it, but whatever, I got paid a lot to do it. I got it set up with Lulu.com and had it appear on Amazon. We set the price as low as possible, so we didn't get any revenue off of it - mainly it was a promotional tool.
After that, it dropped off my radar.
Last week, my boss asks me if I can see how many we've sold. I pull up Lulu.com, and to my shock, we've sold upwards of 500 copies! Not only that, but we've sold 22 ebooks. I couldn't even figure out where we'd sold them from at first (iTunes, turns out), but... guess what? Even though it's way cheaper to buy the ebook version, each ebook sale results in a couple dollars of revenue. So we've got about $60 just waiting to cash in. And guess who gets it? Meeeeee! (My boss is a super nice guy.)
And guess who is now going to be promoting the heck out of the ebook?
