If you want to discuss your ideas, this is at least one place for it. If you want to post sections for critique, there's a board called Show Your Work with a subforum called Religious Writing. You can find it here. If it asks you for a password, it's "vista".

Not specifically. However, in the Survey thread, 17 people identify themselves as writing Christian Non-Fiction, which might include textbooks. If you click the number 17 there, you'll get a list. You'd have to ask them.

ETA: There might also be some information in the thread itself.

That defintion is only for 'didactic'. You are also quoting the Allam in a way their terms of use aren't cool with.

Maybe so, but I'd still like to know what it means.

OK. Here's didactic, and here's pedagogy.

Didactic is, roughly, "instructional" and pedagogy is the art of teaching.

In other words, didactic pedagogy is like saying instructional teaching, or wet water.

It's . . . lame.

I have a reasonable amount of respect for the field of education, and a great deal of respect for the English language.

English language: Are you referring to grammar or philology?

When I say the English language, I mean the English language. Had I intended to refer to grammar or philology, I would have used either or both terms--neither of which are proprietary with respect to English.

A flounce! A flounce! Paging Dr. Brookman, Dr. Brookman . . . you're wanted in the language laboratory immediately.

It appears that the point is that I am out of place here.

You're not out of place . . . but I think perhaps you might want to lurk a bit, and read a bit. I suspect that you're new to writing, and to publishing. There's a lot to learn and it's often complicated.

Sorry, but quirky use of ten dollar words draws professors into threads like chum draws sharks. I'll refrain from making any more of the digression.

Ok, everybody. Deep breaths. Step away from the keyboard. Talk to your families. Nothing to see here. Move along.

:D

In all seriousness, let's take a break from this.

:welcome: Welcome back, Sylvia. I admit, it took me a while to figure out the last post from 1/17/2007 was not magically transported from ten days in the future. 2008 is so confusing.
