Writing Classes

The instructors are entirely responsible for the classes, monies, and content of their courses. Absolute Write simply provides space for the instructors to describe their course offerings.

That said, these are classes and workshops taught by writing and publishing professionals, classes Absolute Write feels comfortable recommending, taught by people who are known in the publishing industry as agents, editors, and authors. The classes and workshops on writing are by authors who have legitimate publishing credentials; you can find their books in your local library and bookstores.

Women in Film & Reel Grrls are proud to welcome back award-winning writer/director/producer Brian McDonald to teach a new and updated version of his popular Invisible Ink writing and storytelling class. For years, Brian has taught this class at Disney, Pixar and Industrial Light & Magic. Brian has also worked as a story consultant at Pixar and has published two books on screenwriting, the first of which is quickly becoming required reading for film students.

Invisible Ink is the writing below the surface of the words — the invisible components of writing. Through his books and lectures Brian McDonald teaches students to observe and apply the hidden structural elements found in classic films and stories.

Understanding the principles of Invisible Ink helps students tap into their natural storytelling abilities thus helping them tell more effective stories.
