I wrote an essay collection on deaf parenting. I sent a proposal off to a traditional publisher but I'm hoping to get some feedback from a few beta readers before I consider it finalized. I've edited and edsited this thing. Had some help with the edits, too. Is anyone interested in giving it a look and offering feedback?
This book is written for BOTH the deaf and hearing reader. For the seasoned deaf parent and deaf parents-to-be. I want it to be helpful as well as entertaining for both crowds. What I want a hearing beta reader to tell me is if I have explained things deaf-related adequately (Deaf Culture, ALDs, etc.), and if there is anything they want me to go into more detail about (such as hearing aids, etc.).
I would like the hearing reader to get a better understanding of what it's like to be a deaf parent and the deaf reader to gain wisdom, insights, support and encouragement from the essays.
I would also appreciate getting feedback on the writing as a whole. Does it flow well? Does the variety of tone and style fit well together? Are there any problem spots with the writing?
Honest, brutal and thorough feedback is most definitely welcome.
All communication with me has to be through e-mail or here on AW. I DO have Google Talk for chatting, but my time online is VERY scarce as I have two small children keeping me busy. I can arrange a small chat time if you need to discuss anything with me through chatting.
I would really like to have this manuscript all ready to send out to a publisher by the middle of May, so if you can get feedback to me by then, that would be great. (There are 30 essays total.)
