I'm not sure if I am posting this in the right section, but I'll give it a shot.
I read that Troy was sacked twice. I know that the second time corresponds to Troy VIIa, but is the first time supposed to be Troy V? I thought Troy V was supposed to have been destroyed by an earthquake? Also, according to mythology, was the first sack of Troy when Heracles killed Laomedon and put Priam on the throne?
I'm trying to construct my own timeline of the events that happen in Greek mythology and am very confused. I also want to accommodate any archaeological records that support it.
This is the timeline that is confusing me: http://members.aol.com/JFZeigler/heroline.htm
According to this version, Heracles finishes his 12 labors in 1267. Then he dies in 1246. Then in 1235, Theseus goes to the underworld to kidnap Persephone. At this time, Heracles should be coming along to perform his 12th labor and get Cerberus, but according to this timeline, Heracles is already dead. ??!!
I was under the assumption that Heracles had had all his adventures and finished his labors before he died and became a god. Am I right or am I missing something? Thanks!!
