Hehe. Sounds good. I had to do mostly random, I haven't watched many new releases in the last couple of years.

I made my selections. As well, I have not seen many of these movies (nor have I even heard of most of them). The best way to handle this situation, is to pick the title that sounds like something that would never win.

I'm so glad you're all participating! This is my first year too and since I haven't even heard of some of the movies it made it all the more fun guessing. I hope more will join us in the fun. :)

Can't wait for it to start! Because of the time difference I have to stay up until 6 in the morning to see who's winning for best film, so I'm calling in sick tomorrow :)

Just love Jon Stewart so it can only be great.

i'm in!

we usually play for money - 25cents/category = $6 but this year no one seems much interested. a crappy year for the oscars.

it was tough. the first year that i haven't seen at least 1/2 of the flicks.

i agree - rent transformers - it's a fun watch
and since you're a bob dylan fan - i'm not there is a must see

Couldn't find my score anywhere, so did a little counting myself.

I got these correct:

Best Director = Joel Coen and Ethan Coen
Best Supporting Actor = Javier Bardem
Best Adapted Screenplay = NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN
Art Direction = SWEENEY TODD THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET
Cinematography = THERE WILL BE BLOOD
Costume Design = ELIZABETH: THE GOLDEN AGE
Sound Editing = THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM
Best Visual Effects = THE GOLDEN COMPASS

That's 8, plus one bonus point, is 9 points.
Not too bad for having seen none of the films yet. :)

Best Animated Feature Film = RATATOUILLE
Art Direction = SWEENEY TODD THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET
Best Film Editing = THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM

I don't think I got any of them right lol.

From the email:
"A couple of records did manage to stay intact whilst one went. The record score of 22 pts set by Suzanne Martori in 2006 was never really under threat along with Rob Page's record of correctly predicting the first 9 Oscar winners also set in 2006. The record lowest score of 3 was taken and now stands at 1 point out of a potential 34 points."

So if you're the one who broke the lowest score record, you did get one right. :)
