Hey everyone, was searching for contests and came across this one. It's run by Gordy Hoffman, brother of Phillip Seymour Hoffman. They have a $35 submission fee if you submit your script before the March 3rd deadline (it's $50 after that) Anyway, first prize payout is $10,000 (yikes) and the four finalists receive $1,500 which isn't too shabby.

Actually, go re-read that. Submissions are $50. Now, if you submit early, before Jan 2nd it is still $50, but you will recieve feedback by the first week in Feb. At which point, you could revise and resubmit (an additional $35) for the standard deadline of March 3rd. Of course, this would cost $85 total. And, standard submissions before the deadline are $50.

Anyway, if you think 10,000 is yikes, look up Nicholl.

Anyway, not often that you see a thread started that does not pose a question, of some sort.

There's a thread in the Announcements forum, 2008 BlueCat Screenplay Competition CALL FOR ENTRIES and here's the entry on MovieBytes.com where you can check out the user comments/report cards from previous contests.

I subbed 2 scripts last year, didn't win, but got pretty useful feedback on both, which I thought was worth the entry fees.

I wasn't meaning to plug the contest, it just caught my eye because of the added bonus of getting some feedback for the money.

I entered last year and didn't place but managed to win the title contest they held as an incentive to enter early. I won $250 and got a congratulatory letter signed by Gordy, which was kinda cool. The feedback can be hit or miss, depending on which reader gives it. I got good feedback on one script and generic feedback on another. Like any other contest, it's a crapshoot.
