I bought a new laptop and it came with Vista which hates pretty much everything older than 3 months.

Anyone else have it? Anyone else notice that the type faces look squiggy and jaggy vs the non-Vista stuff? I've a graphics background and I like nice clean type and this is irking me. I mostly use Arial but every other type does the off-kilter look too.

I've hit every tech board, MS site, and left sacrifices on various cyber altars to no avail. I've DLed the so-called true-type fixes, uh huh, nada.

I've tried Open Office--which looked even worse, leading and kerning are very bad there, MS Office '07 -don't get me started, gag.

Yes, I'm picky, I'm anal retentive, and I'm going through menopause so I may be a tad sensitive to how things look but not too much--in our home ,cat hair is a condiment.

Thanks ahead of time for any pointers, commiseration, et al.

I've heard there is a Vista update coming after the first of the year sometime....perhaps that will help you!

Not sure that the Vista Service Pack (SP) will help with regards to Office 2003 since you want to stick with Office 2003. Your best bet would be to downgrade to Windows XP since you don't seem to like Vista and don't want to upgrade to Office 2007.

Does Vista have a compatibility mode, like XP and all the previous OS's had?

*sigh* Today I upgraded from Office XP to 2003. After all the service packs and updates, I'm still not finding a way to change the horrid blue default scheme. Is it possible?

Google finds mention of doing it via changing Outlook's editor options, but I can't find the sub-sub-sub-menu referred to. :Hammer:
