Oh wow. That's great. I might actually finish the series now. I only made it through Book 8 but I cried when Jordan died. :(

I'm glad that Jordan's wife had a strong say in the matter...

Yay!

That's good to know that I didn't read hours of WoT for nothing. The MoL is going to good. I wonder if the characters will get a new flavor with this new author (never read him). That would be interesting.

Isn't Brandon Sanderson the only winner of the "John Scalzi Award" for fiction?

Anyone who has won the John Scalzi award - in fact, the ONLY winner of this prestigious award - has my nod of approval.

It's like Rigney-Moses dying at the threshold, and some new guy actually has to lead the readers into the promised land.

Best of luck, Brandon. Write a great one for Jim Rigney. Mr. Rigney deserves your best work.

Brandon Sanderson? Really?

I've read his "Elantris" and it's not bad, he definitely showed flashes of great potential. But the conclusion of the WoT series is being entrusted to him? That "Mistborn" and its follow-up must really be something (and it may be -- my friends looooooove Brandon's work).

Hmm. Just read the post and it seems that RJ left behind plenty to work with. Well, good luck to Brandon. Quite a boon for him.

Having lost my interest in WoT long before Rigney's unfortunate passing, I'm only curious as to what kind of notes were left, and what kind of input Harriet has in the final product.

ETA - I could say something mean about ratio of sniffing to braid-pulling, but I won't.
