whose songs would be on the soundtrack?

I often imagine my story as a film and keep hearing Loreena McKennitt's music in the background. Who do you hear?

The two I'm working on now would be either like, Enya, or just instrumental. The one in the works would be Belle & Sebastian because they have awesome songs that are content appropriate and ummm they are fantastic.

Cheering you all on!
A combination of music for all of my novels. I make a soundtrack for each one, and try to add some variety, although usually one artist takes over, at least in the beginning stages. 3 Doors Down and Daughtry if I had to narrow down artists for my current WIP, but I have 19 other artists on the current temporary playlist. Dido and music from the first Buffy soundtrack made the top of my AFTRLYF soundtrack. Right now Five For Fighting and Christina Aguilera rule my other WIP, but except for one of each, most of those songs are competing with songs from other artists for the same place in the plot, so that one is very tentative.

I'm thinking... Newsies soundtrack... and no, that has nothing to do with the fact that I am totally pining for Newsies music. ;)

In all seriousness, I'm thinking some Celtic instrumentals. I've got a good Celtic CD with some really good songs on it. Everything except for the first song which sounds just a little too happy would work for my WIP.

I don't know what will eventually happen. But I love Howard Shore's score for Lord of the Rings. I'd love to have him work on my movie if that's a possibility.

Strangely, I have ideas for a soundtrack already. They came years ago when I started fiddling with a synthesizer (I'm a guitarist). I didn't intend to write a soundtrack, but just found these interesting parts that were haunting, and had nothing to do with rock or blues or the kinds of music I like to play.

I wonder if someone like Howard would ever consider incorporating some of my ideas into a soundtrack if he was willing to do the movie?

whose songs would be on the soundtrack?

I imagine I've Seen Better Days by Sublime as the opening credits for the WIP.

My memory sucks and I can't remember the name of the pianist but the piece is called 'Mary Queen of Scots'. I used to play it while I was writing the scene when the death carts rolled through the streets at night and also when I wrote the scene for a burning at the stake. It was perfect for such dark moments.

Life would be so much better...

... if it were accompanied by a soundtrack.:)

The novel I'm currently attempting to publish is a suspense/thriller... so I hear a lot of the composer, Mark Isham, as well as Dead Can Dance, and or, Lisa Gerrard. My next project (after I write one more screenplay) will be a full-on, epic Fantasy, and I definitely hear something between Basil Pouldaris and Peter Gabriels' "Passion".

Regards,

Kevin

It would take me forever to list all the music that might go well with all my novels...

I do have a definite "boy, that would be da shit if it ever happened" for one of 'em, though. First one in my series about street fighters: "Crush 'Em" by Megadeth.

Probably Smashmouth too, since they seem to end up on about half the movie soundtracks out there. :D

For the novel I just finished: Pearl Jam Of The Girl as the opener; Bowie's Soul Love on the closing credits.

My main character's theme song would have to be either On My Own or Animal I have Become, both by Three Days Grace.

And the song Nothing Lasts Forever by Maroon 5 perfectly describes the relationship between two of my characters.

I have a playlist for my WIPs, just songs that get me into the mood for certain scenes, so I suppose that'd be in the soundtrack were they filmed.

WIP #1: Mostly Medieval Baebes and Biffy Clyro, of all things
WIP #2: Definitely 'Blue Piccadilly' by the Feeling, 'The Importance of Being Idle' by Oasis, otherwise a lot of 60s Britpop and some Sinatra / Bobby Darin / Matt Monro sort of stuff.

Oh, this is one of my favorite self-indulgent fantasies. To think about the closing scene of the movie with the music coming up in the background and kicking in as the credits start to roll. For me it would be songs from Matchbox 20's More Than You Think You Are CD - particularly the song Downfall. That song captures the spirit of my story so perfectly. Funny thing is, I really hated their first album, but got hooked on this one when I started writing my series.

Bubbly pop songs or bubbly pop-ish country songs. Swelling romantic music.

I definitely need to have a playlist for one of my books these days.
