I have no idea how to classify my WIP. I don't need to know yet, but I'm starting to compile an agent list when I have time and no access to my document.
Anyways, it's a young adult novel that takes place in the 1800s. Not historical fiction though - it has treasure and pirates and naval battles all from mine own imagination. So is it adventure? Or just YA? How general is the YA genre, anyways?
Much thanks

That'd be YA fantasy.

ETA: Wait, is this fantasy? KTC's right about the adventure if it's not.

If the treasure and pirates are historically plausible it would be hostorical, if not fantasy. Even of you aren't pegging it either way as a genre.

There should be a YA Swashbuckling genre.
