I got a Valentine.

The other day I got a Valentine from one of my 6th grade students. Here's what it said:

Mrs. Hovland,
You're a wonderful teacher. You're a great writer. If you write a book and it gets published I'll be sure to check it out.

Aside from the run-on sentence, isn't that sweet? Notice that she said "if" not "when." Such confidence. And, she'll "check it out."

I guess that's pretty good, coming from a sixth grader.

I'm also impressed with your teaching skills and/or your student for already having mastered you're vs. your. Most of the people at a screenwriting forum I visit haven't. It saddens me to realize they don't think it matters.
