FANTASTIC!!! - NO SPOILERS HERE so i won't say much

i don't know why anyone would waste their time on dragon flicks when they could have easily chosen an oscar-worthy contender

even if the script is bad you can always count on a great performance from jodi foster but in this case the script was excellent.

the scenes bet JF and THoward were so intricate in design. i had my eyes wide open and my jaw dropped waiting to see how each of their scenes were going to pan out. we should all be so lucky to put stuff down like that on paper.

and NKatt's character was a hoot. you gotta love a good smart-ass to lighten up a scene.

SPOILER ALERT....

I thought the film was excellent because of the performances BUT the writing sure left a plot hole so big that you could have driven a truck through it. WHAT ABOUT THE DOG?!!!!! She never asked about it (not believeable) and the police never asked about it (absurd) and we're supposed to believe that the killers actually kept a damning living piece of canine evidence? Nah, that's just silly. And all as a set up to the line: "I want my dog back".

I actually couldn't sympathize with a character that shows no concern for their missing dog.

I am definitely going to go see this one. I love Jodi Foster.

I think the only thing that could have made me even more excited about this movie was if it turned out that she became Catwoman. Seriously, did anyone else think that's where the preview was going???

I didn't have a problem with the fact that the killers had kept the dog - they were probably arrogant enough to think that they wouldn't get caught no matter what.

I loved the movie to, and although I can't disagree with you that it didn't make sense she wouldn't ask about the dog, (AND try to find it), I actually had to make a conscious decision as I was watching the film to not dwell on it.

Fact is that for me, the whole set up with a couple walking their dog hit too close to home, and if I had started thinking about the dog's fate I probably would have started bawling.

that wasn't such a big hole. thugs use dogs as protection. why do you think pitbulls are associated with thugs? you won't find many wholesome families with pitbulls. and no the dog wasn't a pit but he definitely looked like a tough dog and that's all that really matters.
when the dvd comes out my guess is there will be a "deleted" scene where she asks about the dog. but in nyc and other big cities the police wouldn't give a damn. stolen dogs are as important as stolen bicycles.

you want to talk about evidence - what about the camera phone video?!!!! that's real evidence. many thugs aren't smart enough to think they'll ever get caught so why destroy a trophy that they can share with their girlfriends. i'm surprised they didn't show it on YouTube.

I haven't seen the movie, so I can't really comment in any detail, but I'll tell you this -- most upper middle class city dwellers -- in it seems that that's what JF is playing -- chip their dogs.

That is, when you buy the dog and you take the dog to the vet and arrange to get all the various tags you can arrange to get a subcutaneous "chip" -- that you can read with a little portable scanner, so if the dog gets lost and turns up at the pound, they can scan it and ID it as your dog.

So the dog would be as a good as a fingerprint if they ever tracked down whoever owned it.

Oh, what the hell -- the minute I saw the trailer, I has this thing tagged as a distaff version of Death Wish with Jodie Foster in the Charles Bronson role.

Does it really make the whole thing sensitive and meaningful and touchie-feelie because it's a woman going all vigilante and blowing the heads off the baddies instead of a guy?

Although I agree that most thugs own pit bulls, you will find PLENTY of wholesome families and responsible people owning pit bulls as well. They are not vicious dogs. There are more dog bites every year in the USA from Golden Retrievers than from PBs. They can do more damage when they bite because of their greater jaw strength. They have a personality about like a Jack Russell or a Wire Fox Terrier, but their greater size and physical strength make them harder to handle and control if you don't know how to handle and control a dog. And their strong prey drive and tenacity make them ideal tools for intimidation if you're an a-hole thug who wants to own an out of control dog.

I used to be a dog trainer, and the smartest, easiest trained, and most well-adjusted dogs in my classes were always the Pit Bulls and the Pit Bull crosses.

Anyway, that said, I'm really excited to see The Brave One. It sounds great. I'm going to try to go this afternoon.

I am a huge Jodie Foster fan!
