Hi all!
I joined a few weeks ago and want to say hello! So far, I can't get enough of this site. I've learned SOOO much and gained so much confidence and increased passion for writing, that I can hardly sleep at night! I'm now in the midst of building my platform so got a blog -- Will give out big cyber hugs to those of you who go in and make a comment
. And, finally, below is a copy of a section that I got from Jenna's website re: "Author Bios" -- I'm hoping somebody can answer my related question: Which is the one that is so well respected (see in green below)...I would assume WGA. (Oh, and any other recommendations of other orgs would be helpful too!!)
THX tons for having me and for the education!!
(I love this emoticon -- isn't he the BEST?!)
· Writers Guild of America (http://www.wga.org)
· Society of Children’s Book Writers And Illustrators
(http://www.scbwi.org)
· Writers Center (http://www.writer.org)
· National Writers Union (http://www.nwu.org)
· American Society of Journalists and Authors
(http://www.asja.org/)
· Romance Writers of America (http://www.rwasd.com)
Most have yearly fees, so be prepared for that. This should not defray you. One particular writers' organization I know is so well respected by editors and publishers that having that in your bio is almost all you need for an instant passport to publication.
