Question about rejection

I just had a rejection from a small publisher who said that I had a decent story, but there were a significant amount of beginner writer errors in my manuscript, which I will try and fix ofcourse.
I have it on submission to other publishers though as well who said it sounded decent. Is it possible that somebodyelse may feel differently, and accept it?

All you can do is wait and see. Go through your ms carefully once (or twice) more before you send it to any other agents or publishers. The copies of your ms that are already out there are, well, already out there. Best of luck!

Over-used words, clichés, POV issues? Could be a lot of things. I hate it when
OP don't tell you where you err....but I guess that's our job huh?

Ya another publisher said it was interesting, but they publish only erotica.

The publisher that mentioned the errors only saw my first three chapters and last one.
I sent that same amount almost to a different publisher, and they were very interested, and wanted the whole manuscript. They have still got it, which is good.

Why do some errors bother certain publishers, but not others?

These are all legit places I submitted to as well. I checked them out.

It's possibly because the publisher that's requested the whole manuscript may be prepared to work with you to address the errors, while the other doesn't think it's a worthwhile investment.

We are all different. The errors found by one publisher may be ignored as some minor mistakes by the other. But you need to know what is considered an error not to make it twice.

Unfortunately, it's a huge crap shot. I subbed a story out to twelve or more publishers, and each responded differently. I got noses turned up, thanks but no thanks, not what we're looking for but interesting, and then one very enthused publisher who bought it up. We sometimes forget that the work we send out is being reviewed by people, filled with their own quirks and cravings, just like us. We can only hope to spark their interest.

As for errors, we have to send out the cleanest copies we can. I remember a line from artist Todd McFarlane, talking about sending in his work to editors. He said he'd imagine that every piece of work he sent out was a loaded gun he placed in the hands of the editor. The more mistakes in his work, the more bullets in the gun. He might be able to dodge one or two but anymore then that and it was instant death.

As my latest form rejection puts it, "this is a highly subjective business."

Sorry about the rejection, but keep trying. Take a look at your mss and see if you have typos and such, but don't over analyze it or you'll end up obsessive compulsive over it.

For the same reason I can't stand Lord of the Rings but the movie brought in gadzoodles of cash.
