Well, I was looking for a way out of my Publish America contract. I found that, but also discovered a den of writers and writing resources that looks mighty dang good! So here I am.

I'm Josh, and I've got 2 books published ("Printed" is a better word) through Publish America. Both are from my fantasy/adventure series that I spend a lot of time fussing/fawning/writing on. Sometimes I think I need to get together with an artist to compose a reference guide for the five entries I have in the series.

I write screenplays as well, and even work with friends to produce them! I'm in the middle-end of a production on a zombie flick right now, which I've been working on with one of the guys from the metal band Slipknot.

I think these forums look like just the right place for me to dig around, and get advice, contacts, and friends from.

Screenplay? ONE? HA HA- there must be over a dozen laying around my house that I've written.

Thanks very much for the welcome! I know what you mean about the addiction- my horror movie and model airplane forums have been addictions for years now!

Ha ha! I'm sure there are tons of great people on here, and the info is already paying off in terms of advice as I get ready to make my go at breaking contract with PA.

Have to get the rights reverted completely to me, and then get those pups (and the three others) off to a new publisher.

I'm poking around the forums, but just for my own personal knowledge- what's everyone's thoughts on agent/no agent?

I know there's a whole mess of threads around here dealing with agent/no agent... you can do a forum search up at the top of the forum index, I bet, and find 'em.

Welcome to AW. I think an agent can be a very great and useful relationship; however, some people do well without one. It's just a lot easier to get manuscripts to publishers by having a good agent.

Wow! That's one heck of a party in your post, there. Thanks again, everyone for the encouragement in the matter involving PA. My goals are simple- revert my rights and rescind the contracts.

I will probably wait to start the agent hunt until I resolve that with them, as I can try to give the series a fresh start with book one, rather than shopping for an agent first with book 3.
