I apparently quite dramatically dropped the ball back in November in the 2006 Goals discussion.

Here we are into March already and I didn't start one for 2007. Bad Jen.

Anyone want us to continue this or just let it go?

For the record, over the past month, I've written 35,000-ish words and 11 1/4 chapters on a historical romance tentatively called "Kiernan's Curse."

(You can "meet" Kiernan if you like.)

I still have a couple unfinished mainstream/contemporary works but they're on a back burner for the moment.

Home - but for how long?
Goals?

Finish that darned novel!

Get the next one started in May. The characters are getting impatient. Doing the research already though.

Enter the short story anthology comp and get those short stories compiled into an anthology.

Okay, time to lay out those goals in black and white. Here goes:

1. Get a short story published. Preferably more than one, but one will do.
2. Finish the final draft of novel #1 and query agents and small publishers until someone buys it.
3. Finish the first draft of novel #2.

Modest goals? Doable? I think so. Crossing all crossables (although that makes it difficult to type).

Best of luck to one and all. Keep writing!!

Good luck, evvybuddy. :)

I finished chapter 16 on my current WIP last night. I'm thinking it'll probably take about 5 more chapters then the first draft will be done. Then the revision (and more research :)) can begin.

1. Finish the novella I'm currently writing.
2. Work out the overall plot for my urban fantasy series.
3. Complete a first draft of the first book in that series.

1. Finish the Aunty G collection by May 11.
2. Finish my main WIP by mid-July.
3. Have 2 short fic pieces subbed by the end of next week.
4. Write in my blog at least three days a week.
5. Finish a first draft of mystery by T-giving.

Insane? Yeah, but I'm up to 3000 new words a day already. And everything is pretty much outlined or note-ready so all I have to do is the grunt work of churning out the pages. The stories are pretty well set. I just have to make them happen.

Great Idea! In 2007 I will:
1. Finish 1/3 of the series of novellas I am currently writing (only 1 out of 15 done)
2. Enter 2 more contests this year (1 down)
3. go to at least 1 workshop or conference
4. visit this site more

So today's the first of April. How is everyone doing on their goals?

I've finished the first draft of my historical romance, which in and of itself was quite a feat. Now for edits and research, not to mention coming up with a new project.
