I've never been the type that enjoys making introduction posts. Some of you might have noticed that I've posted comments on other threads already...I like to jump in.
I've been lurking around here for probably about six months, just reading all the posts. I finally decided to join yesterday, when a few posts made me really want to speak my mind.
Anyway, who am I? Well, I'm fifteen years old. I've been writing ever since I was about seven (then it was typing, a skill which fascinated me beyond belief). I wasn't any good when I was little, though. I recall a particularly plotless story that I decided would never end involving a girl with a stepmother who had a sleep walking condition so severe she smashed balloons of chili inside her bra. Yeah...I wasn't six when I wrote that. Eight, actually.
Regardless, I do think I've improved quite a bit. I'm usually pretty sensitive about allowing others to read my work, but I do enjoy entering contests. So far, I'm made $200 for getting top prize in a essay contest about women's image in advertising, and a $35 dollar gift card to Borders for an essay about a recipe for peace.
I write mostly fantasy stuff, although I do dabble a bit in novels dealing strictly with real life issues, particularly with teens, considering I am one. Kind of along the lines of Lurlene McDaniel, only a lot more poorly written.
It's always been a dream of mine to be published. And until that happens, well, here I am, fingers crossed and writing away.
(by the way, I ramble quite a bit. If you couldn't tell from this.)
