Hi!
I see that I am being given reputation points by members. What is their purpose? I am not sure as to how to use them and how to offer points to other members too.

I would like to thank the members who have given me points so far! :)

You hear that everyone? No more rep points for draculeen.
We don't want to confuse the newbies.

But seriously:

Rep points indicate a members standing in the community. YOu can judge a persons reputation be hovering your mouse just under the P in "posts" on the left.
You can give Rep points by clicking on that little white scales (or lobster if you squint). Try it?

From the FAQ:

What are reputation points?

Members can give and take away other members' reputation points. There is a scale on the bottom left of posts-- click on it, and a box will appear that allows you to approve or disapprove of a poster's comments, and add a comment if you choose. Members have the power to add or subtract one rep point from other members. Administrators can add/subtract 10 points from members. The purpose: You can add to someone's rep points if you feel the person is helpful, trustworthy, supportive, etc. This helps new members figure out who to trust, and helps us figure out who should be "promoted" to moderator status. You can subtract rep points if you feel someone is rude, giving poor advice, abusive, etc. This helps the mods figure out if someone should be warned or banned. Rep points can help you attain extra priviledges for custom graphics, more mailbox space, etc. Everyone starts out with a reputation score of 10. To become a Super Member, you just need to keep that score of 10 and accumulate 50 posts.

I always thought the scales looked like Hershey's kisses. :)

When you get to 1,000 points, you can trade them in for a new car.

Really? wasn't there a thread for padding your post count.
You don't need to pad your post count, it's your rep points that counts.

My suggestion: Ask Susie to marry you.

Here are some of the other things you can get if you cash in your rep points:

If you can't drive there's always the horse option; you must supply the saddle.

Depending on how many rep points you've saved up you might qualify for the sailboat!

If you've got no place to put a horse, there's always a pogo stick which won't get you too far, but hey, it's better than nothing.

If you've got tons of rep points you qualify for a luxury jet that will whisk you off to faraway lands!

The higher your rep points, the more powerful your ninja / Street Fighter moveset becomes. For instance I just earned enough rep points to throw a Ha-Dou-Ken Fireball and combo it into a hurricane kick, but I'm still short of the coveted Dragon Uppercut.

The most esteemed members can bend all of the elements like Avatar: The Last Airbender.
