Is anyone else feeling intimidated as a result of being constantly subjected to the sight of Hugh Laurie's furrowed brow? I feel as though I should come down with some sort of impossible-to-diagnose illness or something to assuage his wrath.

Don't do it Rekirts! Come down with an impossible to diagnose illness that 7 minutes later is tentatively diagnosed, leave a brief gap for serial element, add the fact that the tentative diagnosis and treatment exacerbated and complicated the original illness. Stew for 15 minutes giving time for Hugh to antagonise and empathise with various characters.

Add a dash of guest character that gives a subtle clue to the original problem and.....Voila. :)

Haha. Thanks English Dave for copying the original post. I panicked when I realized I'd posted in TIO instead of OP. Maybe a mod will move it.

She managed to intimidate herself before finishing the first post in the thread.

Yes! You see what that Laurie fellow has done to me? I'm a complete basket case.

I am just bemused whenever I see that face. I only knew Laurie from the Blackadder series where his character was the biggest, most fatuous, thunderingly stupid, upper class twit imaginable - and screamingly funny. When I saw House I just could not place this acerbic and dour character with the idiot king that he played, nor could I get over the fact that he wasn't speaking with his normal British accent. If you enjoy British humour, I can't recommend the Blackadder series enough.

I have trouble believing he played the daddy in the Stuart Little movies. Talk about two completely different characters.

You have to admit he does a damn good American accent though, Kikazaru.

He does a great American accent, but I can still hear his puzzled voice (and he was always puzzled in Blackadder) in that very proper English accent. Now I just can't take his House character very seriously.

GAK! Sorry. Wrong forum.
*slinks away*

I still think of him as Bertie Wooster--who's not very intimidating...

Yeah, I haven't read it yet, but I read an excerpt, which was brilliant -- and funny. Loved it.

I only about, oh, six books to finish before I can attack it.

Perks told me about the book, otherwise I never would have known about it. It was published in 1996 (I believe), and I had to order it through Borders.

I recommend it poet. That is, when you get done with the other six books.

Perks has never yet given me a bum steer. It's a good thing I'm not in Bum Steer Arbitrage.

You and Perks and your bum...stuff....can stay out of this Hugh Laurie worshipping thread.

(or is it a talk about me and my avatar thread? I don't know.)

But it sure has the three of us puzzled.
