Scriptbuddy

A friend and I downloaded it once. I couldn't see the advantage, either. We only used it because my Final Draft CD got scratched. When you printed the script, it didn't look like a script. It looked like someone cut and pasted a script into an email or something. Maybe there was something about it I missed, since I was actually using my friend's computer, and she had downloaded it. But I couldn't figure out how to print it normally. In that instance, it didn't really matter, because we were making it ourselves, and we didn't have to show the script to anyone. But scriptbuddy is no Final Draft, IMO.

You have to pay for it to give you the ability to print it or save it to PDF. And it's a monthly subscription.

Oh, then THAT'S what my friend didn't tell me! I supposed if you only intended to write one script, that would be an advantage. But if I were only writing one script, I would just look at some screenplays and copy their format.

I have been writing a screenplay, script for a number of months now by just using microsoft word. This is all new to me and with being a 46yr old carpenter the world of writing is a million miles from my usual work. I stumbled upon Scriptbuddy and have been converting my story from word into their software. I find it very good but before I get too far into my work is there any other software writing applications that people could recommend.

I know people who write using MS Word and are perfectly happy with it, they use script templates that take care of formatting in the same way as the big screenwriting packages do. Take a look at the screenwriting tips thread which has a whole bunch of links to various packages and templates.
