*cough* I meant to post last week to say that my webcomic had hit 350 pages, but what with one thing and another, I didn't. So, err--we're at 351!

The comic is called "Digger" and it's won a coupla WCCAs and was nominated for an Eisner.

http://www.graphicsmash.com//comics/digger.php

While some of it is subscription, the first coupla hundred pages are free. It's a swashbuckling tale of...swash. And buckles. And also wombats.

Anyway, this is a great time to start reading, since we're obviously not goin' anywhere for awhile, so--check it out!

Congratulations!!! I hope this means Digger 3 will be coming out soon. :D (just kidding! I just recently got in my signed copy of Digger 2, so no complaints here).

That's a huge milestone though! I don't think I know any other webcomic artist that's been able to keep up the same pace for so long (god knows I can't seem to get past the 'frowning at large pile of sketches and notes' stage. which is pretty true for my novel ideas too, come to think of it), so that is totally something to be proud of. (It certainly makes us fans happy!)

I totally recommend it to any comic fans out there who haven't tried it yet, you have no idea what you're missing. Plus, it has wombats. Who doesn't like wombats?

Anyway, here's to another 350! (or 351).

*grin* In all honesty, I don't think we'll make another 350 before things wrap up...but then again, I didn't think we'd make 350 at all, so I'm probably not a good judge!

Congratulations! 350+ pages and the readers still don't know what on earth is going on!

If you don't answer these questions eventually, though, I may have to leave oracular slugs in your bed or something.

I bow to anyone nominated for an Eisner award. That's one of The Big Ones, in my book. Congratulations, and keep going! We should have a Digger omnibus one of these days the size of the Bone omnibus that's floating around now.

(I mention "Bone" because more than anything else, that's what Digger REALLY strongly reminds me of, and I mean that in a very good way.)

Huh.

Bone, Digger.
I never made that connection. I see it now, though I might say Bone reminds me of Digger, rather than the other way around :)

But if we're waiting for as many pages as Bone, we'll be waiting a long time.

I went the other way 'round, because I read Bone first, much sooner than I started reading Digger.

...Although Digger is a delight for me. I love both the story and the Digger herself. Since Sin City, way back, I've had a penchant for black and white artwork that's done well, and Digger definitely is.

Ursula....marry me? :)

Actually, I read Bone first too.
And I love it.
I just... well... :shifty: like Digger even better.

But beyond that, and ignoring the epic-fantasy side of Bone, which doesn't remind me of Digger at all, what I love is the whimsy, and ... compared to Digger, Bone's whimsy is kind of muted.

muted? Really? I always thought, especially during the earlier pages, that it was very whimsical. Maybe it's just me. But yes, Digger is more light-heartedly whimsical than Bone was...except for the bits when it's suddenly dark and scary, or sharply touching.

*laugh* Already taken!

Bone was actually what inspired me to do Digger in black and white--I'd been mucking around in color and it took So! Damn! Long! to get a page done, and then I picked up one of the volumes of Bone and went "Hey! I can do a comic in black and white? You mean that's okay?"

*grin* Hey, there aren't that many questions hanging...

What's the oracular slug's second prophecy about?
What's the shadowchild, really?
What was Ed's crime?
What's up with that dead god?
Why was there a wombat involved with that dead god, anyway?
Will Digger ever get home?

I make six and a coupla minor loose ends...*grin*

Yeah, I saw your comment about Bone on page number eleven, I think it was.

Arg! Those are mostly the same questions you presented, unanswered, when I started reading the series! :D

(and yeah, I'm already married too. Ours was a love not meant to be. :) )

*grin* I dunno when you started reading, but in fairness, we've covered a couple--the slug's first prophecy, what's up with Murai, what are the cold servants, who was talking about skinning and purple ink on the second page, and the all-important "Was there a reason Ursula introduced those vampire squash or was that just another case of too much crack before breakfast?"

(Let me cling to my illusion of forward progress or I shall be crushed under the weight of my epic...*grin*)

I read slowly, because I started reading Digger right before all my deadlines stood up and went "Oy!" I'm only on...*checks*...Eighty-Two. But I have today off! So I can not only finish my comic script, I can ALSO finish reading Digger!

Well, I'd add...

1) Why is Digger in... actually...
1b) Where is Digger? And is there any more explanation of why she got there, beyond... um, for lack of spoilerage I'll stop there...
2) Why are the cold servants... for lack of spoilerage, um, what they are?
3) *what will happen* to Ed? And shadowchild? And Digger? And Murai? And the dead god? And...?

I'm sure there's more. Darn. I may just have to go reread Digger. The woe, the woe.

Oh, well, "what will happen" isn't so much a hanging question...I mean, you wrap that one up, and there's nothing left! *grin* I can at least promise we'll figure that out, assuming I'm not struck by a meteroite between now and then.

I hope you're not, because then I'll be left with all these questions, and then I'll have to go Avenge Thee, which takes time and is probably quite a lot of work... :)

I have happily finished issue 4, just now, which I did instead of working on a comic script that really needs to get done. I just wnated to add that the black & white art style particularly shines through when you were doing the underground sequences.

I will not start issue 5. I will go get some work done. Yes I will.

(mebbejustabitofchapter5....)

And it's so hard to avenge people struck by meteorites, too!

Avenging is easy, you just pick a god with a penchant for hurling meteorites and Smote Him. Piece of cake.

The tricky bit is trying to properly mourn a person who has been such struck, because they are either in a number of pieces, or in the depths of quite a large hole, or else pretty radioactive.

Well yes, from your point of view! Me, I'm sitting here wondering all the time.
Well, twice a week at least, anyway.

*grin* I can at least promise we'll figure that out, assuming I'm not struck by a meteroite between now and then.

Hold your breath a sec?

*sprays Ursula with meteorite-repellant*

There.
