I always use Notepad to hash out my ideas... I like it better than Word or anything else because its so simple. Anyone do this? I guess its instead of hand writing ideas out, since my writing is less than readable. I always get some great ideas down on Notepad though.

Me too. I scribble character info and build up the synopsis in Notepad, and when the file becomes info-heavy and the story's ready to roll I start writing the script, also in Notepad. Once I've got maybe the first 20 or so pages done I paste 'em into mm2000 and continue writing there, referring to the Notepad synopsis as needed. Some people like cards, I prefer the keyboard. Each to their own.

yeah, i jot down gobs of stuff in a notebook then transfer to notepad. organize docs in folders (like act I, 2nd shootout, etc). then transfer again to script - process serves as opportunity to rewrite along the way

Glad to see I'm not crazy
. For some reason things just flow better in notepad. I need to work on doing dialouge into a recorder. I say some great lines in my head, but by the time I get to a place where I can write them, I forget the best part.

Thats a good point about wordpad... once you have like 3 pages notepad starts to act funny. I think i shall start doing - notepad > wordpad >final draft.

I outline and keep character notes in KeyNote. I also use the right-side notepad in RoughDraft as I write -- I love RoughDraft's built-in script formatting.
