JOY - 25, works for the streetcleaning oufit - is dispatch, her hair smells like bubblegum, likes to collect stray dogs.
HENRY - the boss at the street cleaning place. hates animals, hates people and hates the fact that Joy won't got out with him, even though he asks everyday.
DAVID - loner kid who stands by his mailbox as the street cleaner comes by, no father, drunk mother and is dying of a disease.
one morning, in a heavy fog, jake swerves to miss David who is standing arms outstretched like an angel, waiting to be run over by the sweeper. they become a triumphant of strange love and affection. Joy gives david a dog for friendship and the story revolves around joy, jake, and david as they find hapiness amidst the specter of death and lonliness.
