Hi Everyone

So I was just meandering around doollee.com and realized I don't remember seeing it mentioned here. My apologies if it has been, but I did a search and couldn't find it.

Anyway, doollee.com is billed as "the 'not for profit' free online guide to modern playwrights and theatre plays." But it also lists theatres by country, literary agents by country, play publishers, etc.

It's not designed strictly for playwrights, so there's no information on who accepts what, but it's a good place for finding links.

And yes, I believe you can submit yourself and your play(s) for inclusion in the database, as long as they've been produced.

I hope some of you find it useful!

It's a whole lot harder to find information about plays and playwrights than movies or TV. I'm glad to know about this site.

You're most welcome, everyone. I'm glad people are finding it useful.

Has anyone on this board tried adding themselves to the listing? I'd be interested in how long the site takes to be updated with that sort of thing.

Happy surfing!

Greasy Spoon, I thought you'd like to know that twice in the last few weeks I was able to help people at another website who needed play information they could not find through arduous googling, solely because you'd told us about doollee.

One was a first-time director who needed the music for a song which was apparently improvised by a very young Al Pacino, with only the words noted. Information courtesy of doollee and apparently no place else.

The other was a director who'd received copies of the wrong play which he'd ordered by mistake, not realizing there was another with the same name. Thanks to doollee and his description of the plot of the play he thought he'd ordered, I got him the right playwright name and a point of purchase he could walk to. Good thing, since rehearsals were to being in two days.

Both directors were surprised to get the information they needed quickly and expressed their gratitude, which I pass along to you.

Maryn, thinking the world of live theatre would make her nuts

Thanks, QueenB. I bookmarked it right away.

Thanks, Maryn. I am very hapy to hear that, as delayed as my response to your post may be. Oh December, where did you go?

:)
