I haven't been to the Water Cooler in some time (in the middle of a move, broadband provider taking ages to switch over our service to the new place), but I am so happy to see that there is a board for historical writing! I felt that some of my questions weren't getting addressed properly on the general novel writing board.

I'm very greatful too.

I'm covering three-hundred years in thirteen books, so I know I'll have questions!

Autobiography?

Home - but for how long?
Oh Good.

Now you're here, start talking.

I have so little time that I must devote it to my writing but an interesting idea or comment will get me, as it gets others, to drop by and chat.

At the moment my time is not my own, either. But as I continue with the series, I'll need to drop by and ask all sorts of questions. Some I'll already answer elsewhere, but if I get stumped, I'll come here.

See, my two protagonists are vampire children. I finished their first novel. It covers their first 7 years as vampires. Roughly the same time as the Salem Witch trials. I sent the first three chapters to an agent upon request, so I'm hoping it will be received well.

The other books will cover the various historical periods of time from the 1700's, 1800's, 1900s until today. I'll need to research everything from the Revolutionary War to the Moon Landing.

As for the moment, I'm just doing my pirate research.

Anyway, I'm grateful there is a place like this where I can get pointed the right direction.

Hey Jack - you might want to check the spelling of the word you're using to show appreciation - that's twice now. Mistakes like that can shoot down what you're trying to do. Puma

Apparently I don't get out of OP, TIO, Pagan and Bewares enough! I didn't even know there WAS a Historical forum. Last time I looked (admittedly some months ago!) there wasn't one... and being a certified historical writer, I'm sure glad to find we've got our own place now! (Thanks to Silver King for pointing me in this direction!)

Thanks to our mods, too, for taking this under their wings.

:e2flowers Cozy on up to the fire, Ol' Fashioned Girl and welcome. What's your primary time of interest?

This particular forum hasn't been here all that long but it's already proving to be an irresistable attraction to a lot of us.

I poked my nose into TIO once and it scared me. I'm not good at arguments. (I'm Canajan, eh? We've made polite an art form.)

I'm all over the sundial when it comes to time periods. My best (in my own opinion) work so far was in the Tudor period. First foray into historical was with an 1880s trip into the English countryside that no one knew what to do with at the time. With Mac's generous help, I'm reworking it at present and hoping 'they'll' know what to do with it today. It had elements of both an adult nature and a horror nature that didn't fit in the 'historical romance' genre when I originally wrote it.

I'd love to do something in ancient Egypt and I'm currently gestating one set in both post Civil War Oklahoma and current day Oklahoma.

Thanks for the welcome! What era(s) do y'all favor?
