Last night, I watched (on TCM) a documentary on the making of Gone with the Wind. What did I learn from it? Perseverance.
The book itself took ten years to write and the author (Margaret Mitchell) really had no intentions of having it published. It seemed providence stepped in and, quite by accident, someone from Macmillan asked to see the manuscript and the rest is history.
The trials and tribulations of making the movie was the main focus of the program. There were more roadblocks in making the film than one could imagine.
If you have a chance to watch it, please do. It may be a good lesson about perseverance for frustrated authors.
