When you figure it out, will you let me know?
I have a client who would like me to handle the documentation for CE compliance on multiple environmental products. They are looking to self certify. I am currently gathering information on the CE compliance requirements, and feel confident that I can handle the technical documentation. However, the information has not been easy to find and I want to be sure I can deliver what the client needs before meeting with them. I am interested in talking with people who have experience with CE certification.

In particular, I am looking for information on documentation standards. I have been reading the EU Directives, but so far, I am not finding anything definitive. (I am still working my way through the 80 pages of the directive pertinent to their products.) In addition, I am having problems finding information on testing requirements. I find the information regarding self-certification to be conflicting and vague.

My client resides in the U.S., using vendors for overseas operations.

I really appreciate any help I can get on this, even if it is just a nudge in the right direction.

Thank you for your time.

Tammy

I want to publicly thank those who pm'd me with links. Your help has been invaluable. Using those links and the information I have found, I have been able to pull together what my client will need for their products to be CE compliant.

Just in case anyone else comes looking for this information, I have included a few tidbits to start with below.

http://europa.eu.int/documents/index_en.htm
http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/standards_policy/european/flyer/index.htm
http://europa.eu.int/comm/enterprise/newapproach/legislation/guide/legislation.htm

http://www.cenorm.be/cenorm/index.htm

Of course, if anyone else has information, I would love to hear from you too.

Glad you found what you needed. I was involved in getting CE certifications for wireless infrastructure products a few years ago, and it is very confusing the first time you do it compared to the way it's handled in the US and Canada.
