Establishing A Script Writing Partnership

Hi There

I'm just looking for a little advice if someone is in the know.
My question comes in 2 parts:

1) I have recently started writing a comic film script with a colleague. He came up with the original suggested idea and we have both taken it on from there.

2) My colleague has also written a number of sit coms but has yet to have any succces. I have read some of these and know that if I were to go over them again that they could be tweaked to be much funnier.

My question is in how we go about establishing a partnership. Before I invest myself fully in the process I would like to know where i stand in terms of credit in both these scenarios. Is there a written or unwritten rule that dictates what is fair.
I know that this is probably a problem for a long way ahead and probably sounds quite mercenary but I would like to get it right from the start so that we both know where we stand before a lot of time and energy is invested.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

That is really an agreement you have to come to between the two of you.

I would say the first senario 50/50

The second senario it depends on how much work you put into it and how much he is willing to share.
