I was due to retire last November but was asked to stay on at the school I was working at to see the year 11 (15/16 year old) pupils through to their exams. Today was my last day at work. I feel just a tad emotional - will miss the pupils and colleagues but not the stress of teaching and marking. Nor will I miss the child protection issues or school politics. I am looking forward to being able to focus on developing my writing, embroidery and patchwork.
I had a lovely celebration lunch with some colleagues I have known for a short time and one who I have known for over a decade. I am so thrilled that he has just got a new job that he richly deserves. Lunch was so good - I had lots of cuddles and hugs, some gifts and lots of cards.
So looking forward to the rest of my life . . . please help me celebrate and raise a glass (or a bottle) to my future . . . and yours.
