I'm wondering what podcasts about writing AW'ers would recommend?

I'm a Writing Excuses groupie, personally. No seriously, I've listened to all the episodes multiple times, went to a con for the chance to meet one of the 'casters in person, and am spending my summer vacation at their retreat. But if you write speculative fic, you should be listening to this 'cast. Other folks can probably learn a good bit too.

But anyway they only have one 15 minute episode every week! Since I can listen to podcasts while working or doing chores, it doesn't cut into my writing time the way reading books does, so does anyone have any recommendations?

Thanks!

So it's not a writing-technique podcast per se, but I LOVE the New Yorker Fiction podcast. Every month, a writer who has written for the New Yorker reads a piece by another New Yorker writer. I'm a short story fanatic so the format really appeals to me, but also I've learned so much about structure, suspense, tone, and language just by hearing the stories read aloud. Highly recommend!

I listen to the Guardian books podcasts. They vary in length - some are 2 minutes long and might just be a list of an authors favourite books, some are feature length and 45 minutes plus. It's not so much about writing, but it is very much about books. There are some exploratory podcasts that deal with writing styles and techniques but you have to dig around for them. Personally, I think they are brilliant. Usually have really good and engaging interviewers.

I'm actually listening to one as I type this.

Dean Koontz has some wonderful, and some hilarious, podcasts on his website.

Writers and Company
The Next Chapter (several times, AW's Peggy Blair has been featured)

If you want stories, Wiretap and The Vynl Cafe are excellent, and if you want background, ideas etc., have a listen to Ideas, Quirks and Quarks (science), DNTO, and Q (Q often has great writer interviews as well, but that's not their focus.

Brandon Sanderson does podcasts (some of which appear on Writing Excuses, I believe). Here's a link to an entire series of lectures he did. Most of these are video (but you could still just listen to them) but a few are also audio format.
