A bit of a fraud

Hi! So I've been reading through lots of the introduction posts, and I have to say I'm feeling like a fraud. I am not a writer. Yet. I don't have a history of writing short stories or poetry. I have always considered my brain more maths/science oriented.

I am an obsessive reader. I tell people I enjoy reading spy/espionage books (and I do, particularly Jack Higgins), but my guilty little pleasure is chicklit. I enjoy the light-heartedness of these books, and the generally warm and fuzzy endings.

I believe high school steered me away from considering the writing industry for my future. Whilst I loved the idea of writing, I always spent too much of the allocated time dreaming up my characters then had to rush to create a story for them. This did not result in great marks.

Late last year characters started invading my head again. I don't know where they'll take me, but I figured a writer's forum might be just the place to start their journey. You never know, without the arbitrary time-limit, they may eventually even tell me their story.

I've read the newbie guides, so now I'm off to explore! See you round the boards.

Cheers,
Linda

You're not a fraud. You're just a writer who hasn't blossomed yet :)! It took me years and many tries to complete a manuscript. Joining a writers group helped me. Hopefully you'll find the support you need here!

HI Linda and welcome to the cooler. once long ago a wise man told me that every person has a story to write. the challenge is to find that story.

i am sure that you will find your story.

Welcome Linda.

I have things going on in my head all the time. I'm actually glad because when they stop . . . . . .

Uh oh, they stopped.

Oh Jim, that sounds just... well something...

I find mine really get noisy if I attempt to be productive.
