Did they made Hale a fanatical religious leader at the end? I was so fond of the "Hero of Wounded Knee" Elmer Gantry-type of sleazy politician.

Grr...I wish I didn't hate FPS's so much.
+2

There are some games that seem to be interesting (like Bioshock, Dishonored, etc) but sadly I also hate fps. The only fps I like playing is ArmA2, and I rarely play it. :(

Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite are two games that aspiring writers shouldn't pass up even if they hate FPS games. The way they flesh out the imaginary and often scary worlds truly transcends genre and medium.

Grr, true. I found the idea of a city built upon Ayn Rand's twisted philosophies scarier than any mutated freak living there.

Meh, I've played the first Bioshock. It wasn't bad, but there was nothing particularly special about it and nothing about it that made it especially fun to play. And there's plenty of other games that have done worldbuilding a lot better than Bioshock.

Will I need to have played Bioshock to understand Bioshock Infinite?

Well, while I disagree and say that the worldbuilding of Bioshock was fantastic (the use of setting-as-metaphor is amazing), I will say that it's not just about the gameplay, it's also about how the game subverts the very concept of FPS and video games themselves.

Nope!

The plots are completely non-related, so far. Plus, Infinite takes place in 1912, while Bioshock is in the 1960s.

A game can subvert all it wants, but if in between those subversions is repetitive and unremarkable gameplay, it's not giving me a lot of incentive to get to the next subversion. It's not just about gameplay, but if I'm playing a game, gameplay is certainly going to be an important aspect.

I've played a little of Bioshock and, sadly, while its story arguably may transcend genre and medium, its gameplay fails to transcend the annoying first-person visual perspective of a FPS.

Well, I'm loving the fact that Bioshock Infinite even remembers strikebreakers existed.

Also, I love the...not...so subtle jabs at the modern deification of the founding fathers...

Gotta commend the art design of the floating city. Been wondering for a while now if something would come along, in any media, and really nail a "city in the clouds." Kinda dizzying with the buildings around you bobbing in different directions. Some of the tech, not to mention music, feels a bit anachronistic for the early 1900s, even for steampunk, but it looks like they actually kind of explain that, not far enough in to see if it gets more clear.

Dear GOD I love Elizabeth.

Okay, gaming industry...you can do female sidekicks.

Now, lets have someone like her be the main character! And put her on the cover too, why not?

Dear god...

That was the single finest gaming experience I've ever had.

If you do not play this game, I will beat you to death with a wrench. I don't care if you don't like FPSes or if you suck at shooting. Play on easy, I don't care. JUST PLAY THE GAME DAMN IT.

Well...you also thought the original Red/Blue/Green, shitty deus ex ending of ME3 was amazing, too, so... ;)

I'm gonna wait for some more reviews before I jump on the band wagon.

Meh, I'd be more interested in the opinions of people who don't delude themselves over an ending that wasn't exactly what they wanted and thus have to make it blatantly-false attacks on it.

From what I've heard, Bioshock Infinite's ending makes no sense. Even looking at a Forbes article calling it "brilliant" (then again, it is Paul Tassi, who's a blatant Retroller moron), the author responds to a comment by admitting a glaring hole in his logic about the ending.

Which actually brings me to the biggest reason I have no intention of playing Bioshock Infinite: how just about every review I've seen that rates it highly gushes about the story and setting while making very little mention of actual gameplay or even remarking on how gameplay isn't very good. It gives me the impression that the reviewers were just so blown away by a fancy-dancy story that they forgot to take actual gameplay into account when slapping on a perfect score.
