Opinion Please

Without knowing the premise of a story, which of these two titles gets your attention the most and why. I will tell you it is fiction/mystery/thriller (I hope).

Deed of Trust gives you a springboard of titles especially good in a mystery/thriller/murder series - Quitclaim Deed, and so on - much like the Prey series.

Ive been leaning toward A Deed of Trust, because of the play on the word "Deed". It can be perceived as a noun or a verb and fits the story line. Anonymous leans to the ID theft portion. The main "villian" character remains anonymous to the public throughout, but not to the reader.

I agree, neither name gets my attention.

Perhaps "Loss of Trust" - play on words
"Lost Identity" - wider audience
"Stollen" - works with the right cover

something along those lines.

I like "A Deed of Trust" because it implies a relationship/potential conflict with the word 'trust', and the 'deed' is a play on words with the subject matter.

On the other hand, unless it's a quote from a song or a poem or something, or the name of a particular legal document, what does it mean? It sounds kind of empty to me -- interesting words put together, but that's all.

On the other hand, "Anonymous" strikes me as kind of a death knell. The last thing you want your story to be is anonymous. It has a kind of 'beat me' connotation, to me.

I like this suggestion.

Both "trust" and "deed" are good because of the multiple meanings. I also like "deed", since it is about real estate.

FWIW, obsessing over titles is generally a waste of time, since editors usually change them.

I'm not keen on one-word titles, they seem to lack imagination.

'A Deed Of Trust' didn't do much for me either, but as soon as someone suggested 'Deed Of Trust' I liked it a lot more.
