Since we have a post on free fonts - and who knew there was such an option? - I thought I'd ask if anyone knew of a site that offers free and decent quality photos for commercial application.

The commons are always a good starting place, but make sure to read, understand, and save a copy of the license before commercial use.

Try creative commons. I find a ton of images there.

Thanks, guys, for the help.

Even after Wikipedia, I'm still trying to wrap my head around the Creative Commons idea. I've found some great shots for a future project but the pics I want to use are all on Flickr.

I thought Flickr was just a photo-sharing site. It feels borderline iffy to use those images.

Flickr is not a commons website, but you can find some images released by the Library of Congress at Flickr.com/commons. Many of those images have unknown origins, and there is a slight risk that someone could provide evidence of ownership in the future.
