I didn't even realize this until I was halfway through my WiP. My two male characters are named Colby and Jack, and my FMC is named Pepper.

Doh. I think one or two of those names has to change!

Behind you!
"Excuse me," said Colby as their arms brushed in the elevator.

"For what?" Jack peered close. "You look worried. Has something happened to Pepper?"

"Gone to Monterrey, Jack."

"I thought she was going to the classic movie revival. Something about East of Edam?"

"No, The Muensters on DVD. Which she took with her."

Oh, someone stop me!

'Did she take that gorgon, Zola, with her?' asked Jack.

'No, but she said she'd be meeting up with Cam 'n' Bert.'

OK, I should really go and do something productive now...

"Cam 'n' Bert? Aren't those the Frenchmen?"

"Yes," said Colby. "In fact, here they are now. Hey! Cam! Bert! Aren't you supposed to be meeting Pepper?"

"What?" said the first Frenchman in a thick accent. "I am sorry, monsieur. We are not Cam or Bert. My name is Jean-Bleu, and this is my associate, Michel Roquefort. He does not speak English."

"Well, where the hell are Cam and Bert and Pepper?" asked Colby.

"One second. My associate knows," the Frenchman, Jean-Bleu, said. He turned to consult his associate. "Ou sont Cam et Bert et Pepper?"

"Ils vont en Italie," said Roquefort.

"Italie?" said Jean-Bleu.

"Oui. Parma, Jean."

Jean-Bleu returned his attention to Colby and Jack. "He says they are going to Parma, Italy."

I had written about brother's Sam and Maxwell until one day I remember the video game Sam and Max I'm going to leave it and do a replace all later.

all the good names are either established or for hookers.

I once wrote a story where Mr. Jones loved Ms. Fleischer, much to the chagrin of his BFFs Mr. Avery and Ms. Perez.

Chuck Jones, Max Fleischer, Tex Avery, and Manuel Perez are animators.

And then everyone started hitting each other with mallets... Right?

Now I know how to improve things in the revision. As for the original post...

"Who's picking up the dry cleaning? I think Rick oughtta."

"Nah, have Artie."

@MeretSeger False! How do you think Charlie and the Chocolate Factory got written? That was one hungry person.

Well I didn't... maybe it's an American thing? Never heard of those as cheeses. I'd be worried if your characters were called Cheddar, Stilton and Wensleydale though...

I've deliberately named characters after chiles in an outline (miquetoastish Bell, hot-tempered Serrano, etc.)
