Howdy gang,

I'm Jeff, nice to meetcha. I'm aspiring, as many people here I am sure, to be a writer. I've got two novels under my belt, one of which is self-published, the other of which is undergoing further editing now that I've gotten it back from my chosen editor. I've also written around a dozen short stories or so, only one of which is ready for submission and was just this morning rejected (in very positive terms) by Pseudopod.

As such, I decided that I've been living in isolation from other writers for too long, and to get over my reluctance to join the community. I've heard absolute write is a great place to get feedback, learn about the industry, and to improve oneself. (As a matter of fact, I didn't know about filtering and why its bad until I started poking around.)

So, here I am! I'm looking forward to learning more, trying to network, and most of all, reading and sharing fiction to get it ready for the brutal light of the editor's screen.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been digging through the FAQs and reading all kinds of good advice so far. I think this will be a very wise decision on my part. :D

Thank you very much for the kind welcomes! This is such a wonderful resource - I'm already kicking myself for waiting for so long.

EDIT: Since I haven't seen a more specific place to ask this question, how do people feel about Writer's Scribe and Srivener? I've got MS Word and the ability to work a spread sheet, so they seem...redundant, especially since both cost a bit of cash.
