Hi everyone,

I just joined today. I probably won't post anything right away, as I need to get a feel for the place and the people, first . . . dang, just did it. OK, forget that; I'll start again.

Hi everyone,

I just joined today. I probably won't post anything else for a short while, as I need to get a feel for the place and the people, first. You may see me thanking my way around for a while.

Thanks for hosting this site, MacAllister.

Thanks for all the welcome messages.

I am a big fan of embedding YouTube video with my writing, the BB code [YOUTUBE]xxxxxxx[.YOUTUBE] does not work and is not an option here.

It seems this site contains writing and hyperlinks only. If so, it may take a little getting used to . . . quite a challenge!

Type what you want in a post window...
then 'copy' a youtube addy,
then come back to your post
'highlight' the text you'd like to make a link.
then click on the 'insert link' option in the post tool bar (looks like a little blue ball) and
paste the link into the box, hit return,
and the selected text now has the 'embedded' link.

Like so.

Things/options like this are covered in detail in the FAQ menu (blue menu bar at top of page)

Thanks, but that is a link, not an embed. I'm looking to put the 640 x 480 image in the body of the text, so the reader can continue to read while listening or watching. It's a multimedia effect.

On our WordPress blog, we lay the embed code down, e.g.:

<iframe width="640" height="480" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/k1fAVXVeomQ" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Ah...No.
Too much bandwidth.
(let alone the writers that prefer the quiet)

If you want to listen to something, by all means. =)

Thanks for letting me know.

The embeds are just pretty pictures until clicked, and the YouTube video is external bandwidth, a far as I know. The effect is a contextual video either driving the story, or complementing the story . . . like an audio book.

Anyway, you helped me immensely, as I was searching everywhere before asking and found nothing to help me until you did.

Here's a [youtube URL redacted because youtube has blocked it].

Thanks, SportsBooks.

I ventured out into the Forums today, but came back with my tail between my legs. It seems I need to log in everywhere I go, then I get kicked out once I log in and am subscribed to a Forum.

It feels like, Fort Knox, except there's gold in here!

I'll figure it out eventually . . .
