I'm new at actually writing
I'm old at thinking about and wanting to write

I'm new here at AW
I'm old at surfing the web checking out things that have to do with writing

I'm new at actually attempting nanowrimo (pinky promise to myself)
I'm old at signing up two months ahead of time

I'm 47 and have read constantly my whole life (ever since the Dr. Seuss book club at five years old). I feel sorry for those who don't know the joy that comes from reading. I've also always wanted to be someone who could give that joy to others. My stopping point comes from being overwhelmed by the whole thing and the thought of not doing it perfectly. I think that finally, I need to just let that go and have some fun. And not worry about the end product.
I have been lurking here since this past weekend and decided to join a couple of days ago. I'm impressed (intimidated) at how well a lot of the members here have done with their writing. But also notice that there are some beginners like me.

:hi:

Welcome. There's a lot of people, young and old here that write.

Good luck and don't feel intimidated, we don't bite... hard.

Welcome. You'll find there are a lot of beginners here, as well as experienced writers who have yet to find publishing success. Of course, there are also the published writers whom we all envy and secretly want to switch lives with. Well, not really, but you get the point. Hope you like it here.

Hi there, Jacqueline! How important is age? I was already 50 when I first felt I liked to see my novels published... Perhaps I have to wait until I'm 60 or 70 until I have a bestseller?
