I've just had a charming conversation with Sharmaine Lovegrove, of the agency above, who are based In Berlin. Sharmaine has very wide experience in the industry, including some prestigious London establishments, and was a font of knowledge on publishing in general. Sharmaine had some fun and fascinating points to make about self publishing, and the way forward for debut authors of genre fiction. It's given me plenty to think about, and it was great fun chatting with her, as she once lived in the same area of Edinburgh as myself.
Sharmaine also established an English language bookshop in Berlin, Dialogue Books, alongside their literary agency. No mean feat, I should imagine. They are currently accepting submissions, and the info is on their website.
Next time I'm in Berlin, I'll check out the bookshop, rather than getting hammered in a beirkeller, on lager strong enough to kill a small horse.
