Gabriel's Oboe from The Mission and The English Patient. Both haunting and beautiful.

Sunshine's soundtrack, by John Murphy, is absolutely stunning.

I also love the soundtracks for Inception, the Dollars trilogy and Reservoir Dogs.

I don't think I'll ever get tired of the Lawrence of Arabia soundtrack. Other than that I like almost everything Clint Mansell makes.

From the 266 movie Babel, "Bibo no Aozora" by Riuchi Sakamoto is one of my favorites. There are few complete soundtracks that I actually like that haven't already been mentioned (Shawshank Redemption in particular.)

Lord of the Rings - I've been to concerts and heard it played live. First time was at the Royal Festival Hall conducted by Howard Shore. Second - with the film, Fellowship of the Ring, and a huge chorus - at the Royal Albert Hall. Both were amazing experiences.

I love Hans Zimmer, becaues he's boss. One of my favorite movie scores is not from him, though, but from John Powell (How to Train Your Dragon). I've recently become introduced to Philip Glass, but I've looked more at his piano pieces than scores/operas.

Oceans 12 and 13. The soundtrack from Oceans 11 lays dialogue from the movie over the instrumentals which I don't appreciate.

The Natural (Randy Newman).

I'd have to say that Hans Zimmer is pretty cool. He can mix so many harmonies together and it just blows my mind as well.

Ransom, I have the soundtrack to "The Fifth Element" and I love it! I also love the soundtrack to "The Dark Cystal", "Star Wars" and anything "Final Fantasy". Nobou Uematsu is Awesome. So is Bruno Coulias who wrote music for "Microcosmos" and "Winged Migration"!

I was using Randy Newman's "Leatherheads" mixed in with old 1920s jazz for my fictionalized 1910s-1920s bio. That was fun.

I had something for this...
I was recently discussing this very thing with another AWer and was horrified to learn they'd never seen my favorite - Road to Perdition. Pfft!

Jonny Greenwood's score from There Will Be Blood is good to have on in the background -- for any reason, really. When it's on, I always get this urge to drink your milkshake.
